Nightlife Queen Sussi Reigns in The Carry Nation's New Lo-Fi Video

Sussi

The voyeuristic visual brings New York beats to London's underground.

God save the queens and watch them slay. For The Carry Nation's new single "The Queens," the New York DJ duo-- comprised of Nita Aviance and Will Automagic--teamed with DJ, producer, and Batty Bass label head Hannah Holland to create the timeless track stuffed with swirling beats and muted bass.

The voyeuristic Cathal O'Brien-directed video features burgeoning superstar Sussi alongside a hottie, named Joey, for the psychotic, sensual video steeped in '90s grime. With quick cuts of armpits, licked lips, crotches, and kinky Freddy Krueger gloves, the video looks like the kind of thing you'd see playing on the wall of some seedy club named after a sex act, while you're getting rimmed in the corner.

For O'Brien, the video was an opportunity to celebrate queens in a way that Netflix's The Crown could never. As they explained to i-D, it's "a film by a queen, starring two queens, for two New York queens, celebrating the queens that came before us."
