Senator Rick Santorum has had one of the most controversial weeks of his campaign for presidency--in part thanks to gay protestors and a few clever folks with camera phones.
According to The Huffington Post, Santorum was recently photographed shirtless while sunbathing in Puerto Rico beginning what is now known as "Shirtless Gate." The ex senator admitted in an interview with Steve Cochran that he may need consider loosing a few pounds before he goes bare chested again. Allegedly, the photo was snapped by passengers on an all-gay cruise.
Following the incident, a Santorum Rally in Illinois was interrupted by a same-sex kiss. Huffington Post reports, "The fracas began in the middle of Santorum's remarks when two protesters, identified as Timothy Tross and Ben Clifford, began yelling 'mic check!,' then embraced before bowing showily to the crowd. When the crowd realizes what was happening, they began to boo and chant "U-S-A!" in unison."
Following the incident, the protestors were immediately thrown out of the rally--although it is unclear whether or not the men were actually gay. In an interview with the two men Timothy Tross stated, "I don't think the message should be about what my sexuality is, it's the message that he's saying about sexuality that matters."
After being glitterbomed and protested by gay rights activists at all most every stop on his campaign it would make sense for the ex-Pennsylvania senator to rethink his views on marriage equality. But, we'll leave that up to him. Let's just hope we don't have to see him shirtless again any time soon.
