What's the Hedwig Hangup?

Last week we read what Kevin Sessums wrote on his blog about a recent convo with John Cameron Mitchell:

"He is busy putting the finishing touches on his first draft of a Hedwig sequel and will be doing a reading and recreating the role of Hedwig on September 16th at a special performance at this year's Afterglow Festival in Provincetown.

"We spend so much of our early lives trying to figure out who we really are," he said as a way to enigmatically sum up the new Hedwig plot line. "And we spend the rest of our lives preparing ourselves to let it go."

And we just couldn't respond. It took days to get over the tease. We remember reading something similar about a Hedwig and the Angry Inch sequel a while back. Hasn't the rumor been circling for years that Mitchell was bringing our favorite blonde back to the stage?

We were happy when he did Shortbus. Overjoyed when he directed Nicole Kidman in Rabbit Hole. But we must admit, we can never get Hedwig out of our minds. What would a sequel look like? What would it SOUND like? And what would Hedwig be up to after all of these years?

OK, OK, we know it's a long and difficult process and we want it to be the best it can be. But we want our Hedwig NOW!

Guess we'll just have to wait til P-town...
