The release of Guitars and Microphones, the first solo album by B52s founding member Kate Pierson, is only weeks away and we've just now gotten our hands on the LP's second single, but it was worth the wait.
Written by Chris Braide and Guitars and Microphones' executive producer, Sia, "Bring Your Arms" is...well...a call to arms to protect the world's wildlife. The track is inspired by Pierson and Sia's experience witnessing a sea turtle rescue in Mexico.
According to Spin, "the title references people literally wrapping their arms around turtle eggs and moving them to safety." A portion of the proceeds for the single will go to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a marine wildlife conservation organization.
This is the second politically motivated track off Guitars and Microphones; the album's first single, Mister Sister, voiced Pierson's support for the trans community.
Guitars and Microphones comes out February 17 on Lazy Meadow/Kobalt.
