Hillary Clinton's historical speech at the Democratic National Convention hit a lot of right notes, including in the fashion department. Her immaculate white pantsuit received praise from New York magazine's The Cutand similarly hard-to-please style blogs --and her dear friend Anna Wintour may have something to do with it.
According to a report in The Business of Fashion (BoF), in which writer Kate Abnett explores the complex rules of politicians' style and image wars, Clinton has been "consulting the American Vogue editor-in-chief (and Democratic party fundraiser) Anna Wintour on her wardrobe choices for key moments of the campaign."
BoF claims that Wintour has "approached designers to procure outfits for Clinton, who has settled into a uniform of brightly colored pantsuits and jackets by US designers."
Although BoF could reach neither Clinton nor Wintour's parties to confirm the report, the two power women have had a long friendship.
Wintour was among the first public figures to support Hillary's second presidential bid. Back in 2013, she said "all of us at Vogue look forward to putting on the cover the first female president of the United States."
Vogue US has also been a fervent Hillary fan, putting the former First Lady on its cover in 1998, and documenting her style over the years.
Well, we look forward to seeing Hill's next Vogue cover in November, hopefully. Because let's face it, Trump's boring, ill-fitting black suits are a no-no.
