NEWTHINGS 'Art Department' Capsule
NEWTHINGS' new capsule collection, "Art Department," is the result of sociopolitical dialogue the rising NYC brand fosters outside of fashion. Drawing inspiration from conversations held on their 8-Ball Radio show, RIGHTNOW AUDIO, NEWTHINGS' latest speaks to the industry's impact on our environment. Through hand-dyed, lightweight, military-grade fabrics, the products all "prioritize sustainability and waste reduction," while maintaining a slick, minimal streetwear appeal.

Co-founded by childhood friends, Edwin Bolta and Ricardo Reyes, NEWTHINGS wrestles with pressing RIGHTNOW AUDIO talking points, including global warming, everyday American life, architecture and the future. In many ways, "Art Department," looks like a stylized answer to these discussions, featuring a functional emergency kit--complete with bandages, water bottle and flashlight--and their signature "Protect Vest," which looks to have bulletproof-style padding.
Graphic tees are available for entry-level enthusiasts--one with the earth melting and fanning itself, and another with a construction working measuring. Although these offer clear commentary on rising world temperatures and urban development, NEWTHINGS' capsule feels notably optimistic, with its warm, buttery yellows and baby blues. It's a refreshing addition to fashion's wide-reaching interest in U.S. politics, addressing everybody's valid concerns while offering something palatable, timeless and cool.
"Art Department" will be available to purchase tomorrow on ilikenewthings.com. Keep clicking for the full lookbook:
