The history-making film has cast a beloved Brothers & Sisters star to star opposite Eichner.

Billy Eichner's upcoming (and history-making) gay romantic-comedy film Bros has finally found the perfect romantic lead to co-star alongside Eichner!

According to a report from Deadline, Brothers & Sisters star and Canadian heartthrob Luke Macfarlane will be starring opposite Billy in the groundbreaking queer rom-com from Universal, which is being credited as the first major gay rom-com from a major studio in film history. Beloved director Judd Apatow is producing the film alongside Eichner, and Eichner is also co-writing the script with screenwriter Nicholas Stoller, who is directing.

Bros, according to the film's description, "centers on two gay men with commitment issues who attempt a relationship." (Wow, relatable AF!)

"I'M MAKING A MOVIE!!!!" Eichner posted on Instagram when news of Bros first broke earlier this year. "Coming to a theater near you Aug 12, 2022! In shocking news, BROS will be the first rom com about gay men ever produced by a major studio, and, apparently, I'm the first openly gay man to ever write and star in their own studio film. Only took 100 years! THANKS HOLLYWOOD!!!"

With more and more details of the film (which was first announced back in 2019) slowly but surely becoming concrete, our excitement just keeps on building, and we can't wait to finally see a gay AF, major studio rom-com on the silver screen!

Bros is set to hit theaters on August 22, 2022.
