What's next? A beach that makes you gay?
M. Night Shyamalan's newest movie just added two stars who could mean that a new type of twist is coming to his films: a gay twist. Jonathan Groff (Looking, Hamilton) and Ben Aldridge (Pennyworth) have joined the cast of Shyamalan's hugely-anticipated upcoming movie Knock at the Cabin. With two gay stars, does this mean the movie might center around gay characters? We hope so!
While details on Shyamalan's upcoming film are being held close to the chest, it will likely center around some sort of mystery, and we do know that other cast members include Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint, and Nikki Amuka-Bird. Shyamalan is writing, directing, and producing the thriller for Universal Pictures.
Aldridge, who stars in Pennyworth as Batman's father Thomas Wayne, came out during Pride Month of 2020. "The journey to pride was a long one for me," he wrote on Instagram. "I love the LGBTQ+ community and am incredibly proud and thankful to be a part of it. So much won. So much more to fight for."
He's also set to star alongside Jim Parsons and Sally Field in the upcoming movie Spoiler Alert, based on the bestselling memoir of the same name by Michael Ausiello. It follows "the emotionally turbulent 11-month journey of Ausiello's former partner Kit, from his diagnosis with terminal cancer to his death. Interwoven in the narrative are glimpses of the roller-coaster ride that was the couple's 14-year romance."
Parsons will be playing Ausiello, and Aldridge is playing Kit. Field is playing Kit's mother. It also stars Nikki M. James, Bill Irwin, and Jeffery Self.
Groff, known for roles in huge films and shows like Looking, Glee, Frozen, and Hamilton, most recently starred in The Matrix Resurrections, the long-awaited sequel to the Wachowskis' Matrix trilogy. He played a new and improved version of Agent Smith.
As soon as any information about the movie is released, like if it's gay or not, you can be sure we'll keep you updated. Knock at the Cabin is set to be released in theaters on February 3, 2023.
