We miss you, Frank!

We're gonna be "Thinkin Bout" this news for a while!

According to a report from Discussing Film, the rumor is that Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Frank Ocean could be close to writing and directing his first feature film!

Discussing Film's sources claim that Ocean is in talks with A24 and 2AM to produce and distribute the film, and while they don't have any plot details, the movie's working title is said to be Philly.

Ocean does have some experience directing, as he directed and wrote Endless, a 2016 visual album. Endless consisted of a 46-minute film showing Ocean building a staircase in a seemingly endless construction.

He also has several connections to A24 already. He wrote the foreword for the screenplay book release of Barry Jenkins' Moonlight, and his music is featured throughout the 2020 Trey Edward Shults film Waves. Other A24 movies include Spring Breakers, Ex Machina, Room, Hereditary, Lady Bird, and Everything Everywhere All At Once.

2AM is a newer production company. Its first film is Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, the upcoming queer slasher/dark comedy starring Amandla Stenberg, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pase, Maria Bakalova, and Pete Davidson. The studio's second film is the upcoming A24 drama Past Lives.

We haven't heard a lot from Ocean in the last couple years. The "Bad Religion" singer was scheduled to headline Coachella in 2020, but it was canceled because of the global pandemic. He was set to be the first out queer man to headline the festival. Currently, he's scheduled to headline the show in 2023.

While he's released a couple of singles and demos in recent years, Ocean's last album was 2016's blond. Since then, his third album has been one of the most anticipated in all of music. Hopefully, this potential film won't mean we have to wait even longer to hear it.
