Mitski Releases New 'Geyser' Video, Announces New Album

Mitski, who opened for Lorde alongside Run the Jewels on her Melodrama World Tour, has today released the new song and accompanying music video "Geyser," as well as announcing her new album Be The Cowboy.

The record will be her follow-up to 2016's Puberty 2, and arrives August 17 via Dead Oceans. She made the record with her longtime producer Patrick Hyland.

"For this new record, I experimented in narrative and fiction," said Mitski in a statement. She explained that she was inspired by "the image of someone alone on a stage, singing solo with a single spotlight trained on them in an otherwise dark room," and continued, "For most of the tracks, we didn't layer the vocals with doubles or harmonies, to achieve that campy 'person singing alone on stage' atmosphere."
