Lady Gaga's dog walker needs our help.
Back in February, Ryan Fischer, a pet caretaker who was hired by the Oscar-winning pop legend, was walking her dogs Koji, Gustav, and Asia when he was shot and the dogs were stolen. He was sent to the hospital with four gunshot wounds. While the doctors were able to heal him, he's still suffering from the mental, spiritual, and emotional toll the attack took on him.
Now, Entertainment Weekly reports that he's launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to help with that part of the healing process.
"All that time spent reclaiming my body, I now needed to be equally devoted to strengthening my emotional and mental health," he wrote on the GoFundMe's page.
Fischer has spent the last two months traveling the country in a 1991 Ford Falcon, but that car sadly is no longer usable. Now, he's asking for money to buy a new van and pay for travel expenses as he travels across the country to different healers and retreats to "support the process of growing from trauma."
He hopes to visit "retreat centers, trauma programs, queer healers, creatives, and spiritual leaders" along the way.
"With no vehicle, apartment, and having run out of savings and surviving on donations from generous loved ones, I am humbly asking for your help," he continues. "This is not an easy thing to ask, but I have started to realize sharing your vulnerability with others is exactly when radical change begins to occur for everyone involved."
So far, Fischer has raised $6,000 of his $40,000 goal.
Fischer not only lost part of his lung in the attack but says that now he is approached by people asking him if he's the dog walker who was shot, triggering him and causing him to relive the entire experience.
While Fischer was hospitalized, Gaga called him "forever a hero," and said, "I continue to love you Ryan Fischer, you risked your life to fight for our family." She also reportedly paid over $100,000 for his medical expenses.
Five suspects were arrested in the dognapping and attempted murder after a woman (who was one of the arrested suspects) returned the dogs after saying she found them tied to a pole.
