Arca Is Hosting Frank Ocean's Third PrEP+ Party

Portraits of Frank Ocean and Arca.

There's still no indication of whether there is involvement with PrEP activists groups.

Frank Ocean is batting three for three. After announcing his club night series, the artist has done an iteration of the event for three weeks in a row in Maspeth, New York. This latest version of PrEP+ lists the artist Arca as the host.

Hosted at The Basement at 52-19 Flushing Avenue, the now open-to-the-public event will boast Joey LaBeija, Vegyn, Last Japan, and DJ Heather for DJ sets. Arca had a DJ slot at last week's event that they shared with Rosalia, but has been bumped up to host now, a role that previously wasn't listed on fliers. Like that night, the line-up is mostly queer -- Ocean received some criticism after the first week's event for a lack of LGBTQ+ talent. Vegyn also hosts the Apple Radio show blonded.

According to the flier, uploaded to Twitter by the popular Frank Ocean fan account Team Frank Daily, doors will open at 10 p.m. and the event will go until late. If the last two weeks have been any indication, once inside, party goers can expect a smoke machine, a mostly dark venue full of nooks and crannies, as well as a pretty amazing lighting setup.

Ocean was spotted at the first two events, walking through the crowds and appearing behind the DJ booth. He also debuted new music at the first event. Last week, he teased a remix to his cover of Sza's "The Weekend" track during Papi Juice's set. According to some reports, last week posters were handed out.

Ocean still has not responded to criticisms around a line of merchandise affiliated with the party. T-shirts from that line sport PrEP+ on the front in reference to the party and by extension the drug, and were being sold for $60. There has been no public confirmation that any work is being done to inform partygoers about the life-saving medication, nor if there have been any related donations to organizations seeking to widen access to the drug.
