The Moment: April 22, 1935: Gay Director James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein opens in theaters.
Since snatching the crown in the season 6 finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, sharp-tongued queen Bianca Del Rio (a.k.a. Roy Haylock) says she's traveled "from Calgary to Wisconsin to Allentown, Pa." -- and that was just in one weekend. While developing some upcoming TV projects, she also mounted her new "one-man/one-woman show," Rolodex of Hate, the New York premiere of which sold out in four hours. Del Rio's banner year was capped by an invite from her childhood icon, Joan Rivers, to appear on the penultimate episode of the Web series In Bed With Joan. Rivers clearly would have approved of Del Rio's identification with the Bride of Frankenstein: "She's a man-made woman!" Del Rio says. "That's what I do on a daily basis."
