How Amy Schumer stalked Goldie Hawn into coming out of retirement.
Amy Schumer knows what time it is. And it's time for a Goldie Hawn renaissance. We've been Hawn-less since 2002's The Banger Sisters, and Schumer is out to right that wrong with a new film starring her and the legendary actress. But it took some convincing.
"I met her on an airplane a couple of years ago and told her there's a movie I really want to make with her," Schumer tells the LA Times about wooing Hawn." And she was very nice. 'OK, honey.' She probably thought I was a psycho. 'OK, crazy person.'"
"Then I'd meet her at different things, saying, 'We're making this movie together,' and I think, eventually, some people got in her ear and told her I wasn't crazy, that I make things."
Schumer also revealed some plot details:
[Goldie Hawn] plays my mom. My character is supposed to go on this trip South America with a boyfriend. But he breaks up with her. And it's a nonrefundable ticket and she doesn't want to drink alone. It's a Goldie Hawn movie and she's gorgeous. Goldie ... Hawn! I don't remember the first time I didn't love her!
Schumer clearly knows what she's doing. No one drinks like Goldie.
Speaking of First Wives Club--we're going to ignore that TV Land reboot for now--what's happening with Divination, the Netflix movie reuniting Goldie with her FWC sisters Bette Midler and Diane Keaton? Give the people what they want!
