If you've ever wondered what the gayest news of all time would look like, look no further. The most iconic movie of our generation, Mean Girls, is finally reaching gay mecca with a musical adaptation. It seems like we've lived a lifetime of anguish over the proposed adaptation of the movie we still can't stop quoting 13 years after its release (yes it's really 13 years old), but it's finally a reality with a cast and premiere date for its initial run at the National Theater in Washington, D.C.

The play will debut on Halloween and run through December 3rd, setting the stage for what we can only imagine will be a crowd full of ambiguously mousy costumes. If you're worried about the stage adaptation of Mean Girls turning out as "fetch" as the straight-to-ABC Family Mean Girls 2 sequel, fear not.
The stage version of Mean Girls has Tina Fey, who wrote the original screenplay, writing the book for the production and features music by Fey's husband Jeff Richmond (of 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fame) and lyrics by Nell Benjamin (who created Legally Blonde's hit songs). Alongside these heavyweights are a loaded cast of Broadway favorites from shows that include Kinky Boots, Heathers: The Musical, and more. You can check out the cast below and hope that the show will land on Broadway in 2018.
