Adam Rippon is teaming with Twitter and NBC Olympics to host a live daily show on the social media platform covering this summer's games in Tokyo. The new daily interactive program entitled Talking' Tokyo will be broadcast live on Twitter. Rippon won a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
"SO EXCITED to be going to the Olympics this summer," Rippon tweeted about his new show.
Few would be better suited to host a live interactive show covering the Summer Olympics than Rippon. His hilarious and vivacious persona are equaled only by his immense talent and physical abilities on the ice. He has a collection of wins over the years as proof. The 31-year-old athlete won the 2010 Four Continents Championships and the 2016 U.S. National Championships to go along with his bronze medal from the 2018 Winter Olympics. He retired from competitive skating in November of the same year.
Since then, Rippon athlete has been busy staying in the public eye. He won season six of Dancing With The Stars, and he was recently signed to help create and produce a comedy series based on the wild world of adult professional figure skating for NBC. The currently untitled figure skating comedy tells the tale of one woman's "oversized ambitions, underwhelming talent and boundless heart" in her fight against "family, failing knees, and every other skater on the ice" to (maybe) realize her dreams.
Rippon spent most of the pandemic in quarantine without his boyfriend, Jussi-Pekka Kajaala, but the pair were able to meet up in Finland finally late last year. They only had two months together, but the made the most of it, binging on Netflix and getting engaged.
"In between all of that and binging the entire 4 seasons of The Crown, we bought ourselves some rings and said that magic word ... 'duh!'" Rippon joked. "We got engaged."
Twitter's expanded sports coverage will also feature some of the biggest events of the National Football League, Major League Baseball, horse racing, National Hockey League, and more.
