You better get hyped, because Fairfax is almost here!
The first trailer for the new Amazon Prime Video adult animated series Fairfax just dropped, and we are all lining up down the block to see it. The show follows a group of middle schoolers in LA as they follow the latest sneaker drops and try to gain clout -- and it looks good as hell.
Fairfax stars one of our favorite out comedians Jaboukie Young-White, along with Kiersey Clemons, Peter S. Kim, and Skyler Gisondo as "four middle school best friends on their never-ending quest for clout on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles -- the pulsing heart of hypebeast culture. Fairfax is about the timeless struggle to be cooler than you are and fit in while standing out, and what it feels like to wait in line for a pair of sneakers you're never going to cop."
We get to see a lot of Young-White's character, Truman, a "self-proclaimed auteur filmmaker and budding Casanova" in the trailer. In one scene when they first meet the new kid, Dale, Benny says his outfit is "normcore as hell," prompting Truman to add in, "Yeah, yeah, yeah! You look like if Tom Hanks f*cked an REI." They've got the jokes!!!
In another scene, you can see Clemons' (who is queer in real life) character wearing a helmet with a rainbow flag sticker on it while she sits in a kayak. Her character, Derica, has been described as an aspiring model/activist who is "determined to save the planet in style." Hopefully, that means we'll get some queer representation in the show!
Overall, the show looks like it's going to be filled with humor, style, tons of LA jokes, and young friendship. It'll also feature tons of celebrity guest stars, including Yvette Nicole Brown, Rob Delaney, John Lequizamo, Camila Mendes, JB Smoove, and the Emmy-winning, legendary Billy Porter.
All eight episodes of Fairfax will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 29. Check out the trailer below.
