Tumblr's Top 12 2022 Fandom Ships Were All Same-Sex Couples
These are Tumblr's top fandom ships from 2022!
As the year comes to an end, things like Spotify Wrapped recap our year and all the media we loved. Another treasured end of the year tradition is Tumblr's annual recap of the most popular ships on the website.
Last year, Destiel was number one, followed by Lumity, Sambucky, Bakudeku, Dreamnotfound, and Lokius, with the first straight ship not appearing until number 23.
This year, it's much of the same, with queer couples dominating the fanfic, fanart, photosets, and more. In fact, the top twelve ships were all same-sex, with Ladybug and Chat Noir being the highest ranking straight ship at number 13. When it comes to fandom, the gays really do have the game on lockdown!
Scroll through to see the top 12 ships of 2022! And for the full list, head over to Tumblr.
Byler (Will Byers and Mike Wheeler, ‘Stranger Things’)
Of course, after the huge year Stranger Things had, it's not surprising that the show has the number one spot. This season, Will struggled with a crush on his best friend Mike while Mike was growing up and paying more attention to girls (specifically Eleven). While Will was unable to come out to him, he did have a nice conversation with his big brother about his sexuality.

Steddie (Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson, ‘Stranger Things’)
Also this year on Stranger Things, Steve met his match in the ne'er do well metalhead Eddie. The two bonded a lot in their journeys to the Upside Down, and fans obviously wanted to see them bond even more.

Destiel (Dean Winchester and Castiel, ‘Supernatural’)
The classic ship that sent an angel to super hell is back in the top three, even after the show has ended. Perhaps Misha Collins seemingly coming out as bi and then backtracking kept them in the top?

Blackbonnet (Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, ‘Our Flag Means Death’)
This is the highest ranking ship from a show that debuted in 2022, and the highest ranking canon ship. Our Flag Means Death started as a hilarious romp following "Gentleman Pirate" Stede Bonnet and his crew, but soon turned into one of our favorite love stories of the year.

Romance (Robin Buckley and Nancy Wheeler, ‘Stranger Things’)
The first sapphic ship on the countdown is loner lesbian character Robin and popular top-of-her-class girl Nancy. The two had a lot more screen time this year, leading fans to ship them like crazy.

Buddie (Evan Buckley and Edmundo Diaz, ‘911’)
The top firefighter ship of 2022 on Tumblr comes from the original 911 show (we're more a fan of Tarlos, who sit at number 56 on the list). Fans love to imagine these big, burly men together.

Lumity (Luz Noceda and Amity Blight, ‘The Owl House’)
The second canon ship on the list is Lumity, featuring Disney's first bisexual protagonist, Luz, a human girl who goes to a demon realm, and Amity, the gay witch she meets at school and falls for.

Nandermo (Nandor the Relentless and Guillermo de la Cruz, ‘What We Do in the Shadows’)
Nandermo hive rise up! We stan clueless vampire Nandor's budding romance with his former familiar-turned-bodyguard Guillermo on this season of WWDITS. The two have a great will-they-or-won't-they game going on and we can't wait to see it play out!

Geraskier (Geralt of Rivia and Jaskier, ‘The Witcher’)
Witcher Geralt of Rivia and bard Jaskier are in the top ten this year, although that could change next year when Liam Hemsworth replaces Henry Cavill as Geralt in Netflix's The Witcher show.

Piltover’s Finest (Caitlyn Kiramman and Vi, ‘Arcane’)
Another ship from a new show this year, Caitlyn is an Enforcer from the nicer part of Piltover, and Vi is a newly-free-from-prison brawler from the undercity. The two shouldn't mix, like water and oil, but they still do.

Hannigram (Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham, ‘Hannibal’)
One of the all-time great m/m ships is still just outside the top ten, despite not being on the air for seven years. The love for Will and his manipulative (but sexy) therapist will never die.

Supercorp (Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor, ‘Supergirl’)
When Supergirl ended this year, many fans hoped that this ship would become canon. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, but the fans are still keeping the ship alive.
