Choosing an intimate picture to send on dating apps can be daunting, and it wasn't any different for Neil Patrick Harris on Uncoupled!
Netflix's new gay comedy series Uncoupled tells the story of Michael Lawson (Harris), a gay real estate agent in New York City who's getting out of a 17-year relationship and finds himself navigating the dating scene in 2022. One of the funniest moments on the show features Michael trying to take a "d*ck pic" to send on Grindr.
Harris told Page Six that he was extremely involved in the process of choosing how Michael's penis would look on the series.
The actor explained:
"Not only did I get approval, [but] I was asked to choose said d*ck, which is harder than you think, no pun intended."
He continued:
"It was not OK because I'm more proud of Michael's member than something that is mass-produced, that you can purchase online."
Harris also went into detail about the research process behind Michael's "d*ck pic" for Uncoupled. The actor noted: "So we started looking through photos of people who have taken pics of their dongs in locker rooms. And you had to find the right angle and girth and 'manscapery.' And I think we found the right mix. I'm proud of what I'm packing downstairs."
The overall ensemble of Uncoupled also features Michael's ex-boyfriend Colin (Tuc Watkins), business partner and BFF Suzanne (Tisha Campbell), new friend Claire Lewis (Marcia Gay Harden), as well as gay buddies Stanley (Brooks Ashmanskas) and Billy (Emerson Brooks).
Uncoupled premieres July 29 on Netflix.
