The second season of RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race introduced a brand-new format to the series that resembles The Masked Singer.
The first season of Celebrity Drag Race, which aired in 2020, followed a format where three different celebs were featured in each episode and competed through what was basically a speed-round of regular RuPaul's Drag Race. The famous contestants entered the werkroom, hung out with other queens, got their makeup done, and then performed for the judges on the main stage just like competing in a maxi challenge. However, Mama Ru switched things up for season two.
On Secret Celebrity Drag Race season two, a cast of nine celebrities competed week after week in lip sync performances. Each episode had a winner and a bottom two, with one of the celebrities having to sashay away in the end. Like The Masked Singer, the contestants then reveal their real identities following their elimination from the competition.
Even though a mask conceals the identity of a "secret celebrity" much more than just makeup, it has actually been pretty hard to figure out who these celebs are behind their drag personas. As such, viewers looked forward to the eliminations each week so they could finally find out who each of these famous contestants on Celebrity Drag Race really were!
