She took to her Instagram Story to break the news to fans.

The upcoming season of Euphoria will be missing one notable cast member: Barbie Ferreira.

The out actress took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday to her fans and followers that she would not be reprising the role of Kat Hernandez in the popular and critically-acclaimed teen drama series on HBO.

"After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye," Ferreira wrote in her IG Story, posting fan art made by her now former co-star Hunter Schafer. "I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today."

She continued:

"I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys feel it. Love you, Katherine Hernandez."

Though she was a main character with a substantial storyline during the first season of Euphoria in 2019, viewers did notice that Kat's arc and screentime were substantially diminished throughout the second season of Euphoria that aired earlier this year.

According to reports, that was due to some alleged frustration Ferreira had with Euphoria creator and showrunner Sam Levinson about the direction of where the character of Kat was going, resulting in creative differences. Ferreira addressed those rumors of a possible tiff with Levinson in a March interview with Insider.

"What's interesting about this season is there are so many more eyes on it that even the news cycle has been so interesting to see," she said at the time. "I've seen so many different things and a lot of it is untrue and some of it's kind of like mundane little things."

"Sometimes things take on a life of their own, and they're not rooted in the truth," she continued. "But it's okay, because I know it's just out of passion and out of curiosity and all that good stuff. And I signed up for it. So, I'll take it. I'll take the good and the bad."

It's not clear what lead Ferreira to depart from the role, but fans will be feeling the loss when the upcoming third season rolls around sometime in the near future.

The first two seasons of Euphoria are streaming on HBO.
