'The One' Cabaret in Berlin
Announced in March, the Jean Paul Gaultier-designed cabaret revue The One, a new production opening at Friedrichstadt-Palast, in Berlin, is already breaking ticket sales records. Although the show is only due to open on October 6th, previews of Gaultier's costumes and the colorful stage design have already sold more than 86,000 advance tickets -- more than for any other show at the Palast. The One is the theater's most expensive production to date, and involves a wardrobe of 500 costumes. Gaultier, who said he fulfilled a childhood dream working on the cabaret's couture, brought back some of his best runway looks for the show, from punks and trompe l'oeil tattoos to fetishwear and his Madonna-endorsed corsets.
