The Toronto-based duo cooks up a tempest in a teapot

Thrift shops are chockablock with Grandma's old china. But Kris Aaron and Andy Walker, a Toronto-based design duo known as Pansy Ass, see these musty mementos as blank canvases for their hilarious, hand-painted, and very sex-positive art. They adorn old housewares with blow jobs, buttholes, and current catchphrases like "Bossy Bottom" and "Yass Kween" -- written over the face of Queen Elizabeth. Partners in life and work, the boyfriends formed the company last year, fueled by a shared love of ceramics, kitsch, and sex. "Sexuality and gay culture are things of beauty," Aaron says. "They should be displayed and cherished."
Their revamped knickknacks provide the modern homo with fun mantle candy, even if it prompts a little side-eye from the cleaning lady. Their favorite criticism came from Walker's grandmother, who said, "It's not my cup of tea." Not anymore, anyway.
