Sam Smith Spotted Twerking on the Brooklyn Bridge
But was it to a song from their upcoming third album?
Sam Smith is really feeling their oats. The British singer has really embraced their queerness this year, and its clear that being open about their identity has made Smith more comfortable in their own skin; they are just having fun. Case in point, Smith posted a few Instagram stories earlier this week of themselves twerking on the Brooklyn Bridge, following up with some candid shots from what looks like a very happening party.
"I love my friends," wrote Smith.
Smith came out as nonbinary and genderfluid in March, explaining to Jameela Jamil that they're "not male or female, I think I flow somewhere in between. It's all on the spectrum." Over the summer, the artist released "How Do You Sleep," a groovy bop paired with a video in which the singer donned platform boots and kept up with a squad of dancers.
Last month, Smith announced that they are now using they/them pronouns. "I've decided I am changing my pronouns to THEY/THEM," Smith wrote on Instagram. "After a lifetime of being at war with my gender I've decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out. I'm so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I've been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but fuck it! I understand there will be many mistakes and mis gendering [sic] but all I ask is you please please try. I hope you can see me like I see myself now."
And just last week, Smith revealed that they are officially writing their third studio album. Maybe it will includes a proper pop banger to twerk to on it?
