There's been endless speculation on Twitter about Richard Madden's sexuality since he was first spotted holding hands with "roommate" Brandon Flynn in Los Angeles, but there's been no confirmation either way. Here at Out, we've been hesitant to report on it outside of leading asides because it's never alright to out someone and, you know, we don't want to get sued!
But the New York Times took a more direct approach to in a profile on the Rocketmanstar, mentioning that "tabloid interest in his personal life has increased" and reporter Kyle Buchanan directly asking him if he's dating the 13 Reasons Why actor. His response was both nonchalant and opaque, waving off the interest in his sexuality and instead focusing on the tabloid interest in his life.
"Madden shrugged, unbothered by the question but in no hurry to answer it, either. 'I just keep my personal life personal,' he said. 'I've never talked about my relationships.' He's working on a way to deter paparazzi interest in who he's seen with: 'I wear the same clothes days in a row, because if it looks like the same day, they can't run the pictures,' he said. 'There's only so many photos you can have of me with a green juice walking down the street.'"
Madden clearly grossly underestimates how willing we are to look at literally every photo of him drinking a green juice, especially if he's doing it with his arm lovingly slung over a twink's shoulder.
