"It's weird but it works out."
It's really the year of gay daddies!
Over the past few years we've seen a ton of LGBTQ+ celebrities start or expand their families with children. Boy is it a list! In 2020, news show host Anderson Cooper joined the crew with his son Wyatt Morgan Cooper. That was some nine months ago. Since, Anderson has been on a bit of a press tour with everyone asking questions about the tot who the journalist revealed he is co-parenting with his ex Benjamin Maisani.
"We actually still live in the same house because we get along really well," Cooper told Ellen DeGeneres on a recent episode of her show. He had previously told Howard Stern that he brought Maisani, who is French, in because he wanted to make sure his son had a family. And the fact that he's a good guy.
"It's weird but it works out," Cooper told DeGeneres. "It's interesting because he wasn't sure he really wanted to have a kid which is probably one of the reasons why we broke up. But then he came around to the idea. Now, he is such a great parent." Funny how life happens!
"Maybe y'all will get back together," DeGeneres said, repeating what was literally on our minds. Cooper's reply came without hesitation.
"No," he said bluntly. But DeGeneres wasn't done.
"It's amazing y'all live together, that's a show right there," she said. "I think we should produce a show about that." Absolutely would watch.
And in case you're wondering, much like Ricky Martin, cooper is undecided on whether to have more babies in the future.
"I don't know, there's nothing in the works," he said when asked. "I don't know. Yes, I think it would be great for him to have a sibling but I'm not sure I could handle another kid."
