David came out as pansexual on the show.

Following his first reality TV stint on Fox's Paradise Hotel reboot back in 2019, David Barta went on to get cast on MTV's Ex on the Beach season five. On the show, Barta opened up about his sexuality, coming out as pansexual and saying that he's been exploring that side of himself and his sexuality recently.

Barta was known for pursuing quite a few relationships over his time on Ex on the Beach. First, Barta kissed Mike Mulderrig in a joint confessional and talked about having feelings for him. However, his head then turned away from Mulderrig once his ex-girlfriend Danielle "Dani" Cohen walked onto the beach. In any case, that didn't work out, which led Barta to pursue a third relationship on the show with Kyra Green.

The season ended with Barta getting on the boat with Green, which meant that he went home being in a relationship with her. According to the end credits, Barta and Green were still together and had even moved in together after the show. However, Barta tweeted in June 2022 that he and Green have broken up after dating for 10 months.
