Miami kicked off Art Basel with style and panache last night with Logo's NewNowNext Awards. The annual event, which honors some of the biggest names in pop culture, took place last night at the Kimpton's Surfcomber Miami and many an OUT100 alumn was present. And yes, Billy Reilich was the super-cute trophy boy (see below). The event will air on Logo Dec. 7 at 8 p.m.
Rupaul's Drag Race reigning champ and OUT100 honoree Bianca Del Rio, took home the award for Best New Television Personality while Orange is the New Black actress Lorraine Toussaint and Looking star Jonathan Groff nabbed the Best New Television Actor and Best New Television Actress awards respectively. Groff's HBO show Looking was named Best New Television Series.
In the Music category, Sam Smith was Best New Musician (Male), Betty Who won Best New, and "Say Something" duo A Great Big World were named Best New Music Group.
For movies, Dear White People by Justin Simien won Best Motion Picture By a New Filmmaker, Gillian Flynn nabbed the Best New Screenwriter prize for Gone Girl, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1's Natalie Dormer and The Fault In Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort were dubbed Best New Lead Film Actress and Actor.
As predicted, Hedwig and the Angry Inch won Best New Broadway Production (Musical) while The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was named Best New Broadway Production and its star, Alexander Sharp, earned the distinction of Best New Broadway Lead Actor.
YouTube star Troye Sivan got the Best New Social Influencer (Male) award while Vine sensation Brittany Furlan Best New Social Influencer (Female).
Orange is the New Black stars Danielle Brooks, Laverne Cox, and Lea DeLaria made a special appearance, as did up-and-coming pop stars Nick Jonas, Charli XCX, Mary Lambert, and Tyler Glenn. YouTube personalities Tyler Oakley--who was named OUT100 Readers Choice--and My Drunk Kitchen's Hannah Hart also showed.
Oh, Lance Bass and husband Michael Turchin had a little fun as well...
