15-year-old Brendan Jordan is now an American Apparel model
While American Apparel is known for making some unusual decisions with its advertising to get attention (remember drag stars Willam, Courtney Act, and Alaska had their own campaign), it seems they are now going after the precocious adolescent market--which is their demographic anyway. 15-year-old YouTube sensation Brendan Jordan is the latest model to appear in an ad for the retailer.
According to the company's ad copy: "We were inspired by Brendan after seeing his fearless act of spontaneity and applaud his efforts with the LGBTQ community. His favorite styles of ours include the Clear PVC Circle Skirt and anything high-waisted."
Since the video of him vogueing went viral, Jordan (who is half-Peruvian and speaks Spanish) has appeared on talk shows and even got a shout out from Lady Gaga. No doubt, his selection as a model for American Apparel also has something to do with his large social media following: Since the video appeared in October, his YouTube account now has 49,441 followers, and his Twitter followers are over 36,900.
The original video has been viewed nearly 3 million times. Watch it below:
