A gayer Thelma & Louise with a much happier ending.

In "Lesbian Jesus" Hayley Kiyoko's new self-directed video "What I Need," Kiyoko and Kehlani run away together, first as childhood best friends but eventually becoming more after a series of events leads to their car breaking down. The video is a gayer version Thelma & Louise, culminating in a very hot kiss -- a much happier ending than driving a car off a cliff.

Kiyoko and Kehlani were two of the artists most vocally opposed to Rita Ora's "Girls." Kehlani called the lyrics "harmful" while Kiyoko said "does more harm than good for the LGBTQ+ community...A song like ["Girls"] just fuels the male gaze while marginalizing the idea of women loving women." "What I Need" is a music video that doesn't play at queerness for the male gaze, but celebrates two women in love.
