It seems like we are truly in the midst of a Frank Ocean album roll out -- even if he hasn't given us a name for it yet.
The singer, songwriter, and rapper released a new track called "In My Room" Saturday morning on iTunes and YouTube. At the time of publishing, the song had not been uploaded to all streaming services -- Spotify was notably missing. "In My Room" comes in a bit of a flood of press for the singer who recently launched a club night series. At a few of those events, Ocean has released new music.
In the past few weeks, the star debuted tracks like "Cayendo," "Dear April," and "DHL." On "DHL" he rapped "boy toy suck me like a Hoover, boy to ride me like an Uber." He leans into this vibe -- sometimes sexual, sometimes simply using a sexual reference for figurative language -- on "In My Room."
"Really easy on the eyes green like a soccer field, skin hot when they try me, like the poppers feel," he rhymes on the song. Yeah, you felt that rush over your body? That's what he's talking about.
Eagle-eyed fans of the performer have pointed to a series of icons at the bottom of the single art for each new track as an indication that they are a part of an album. On each, one icon that's highlighted resembles the silhouette of Ocean in that image. While on "DHL" there were 13 icons, there are now 17. The silhouette that resembles Ocean on the "In My Room" cover, is the fifth in the listing.
