Listen to Lady Gaga's Sugary 'Sour Candy' Track with Blackpink

Lady Gaga and Blackpink

OPEN THE CLUBS!

MikelleStreet

Lady Gaga was truly looking out for gay clubs when she was crafting her album Chromatica which comes out at midnight. The Ariana Grande collaboration "Rain on Me," which had a video release last week, was a blatant dance track, perfect for summer festivals. As was the lead single "Stupid Love." The latest track from the album, "Sugar Candy," only leans into that established direction.

Featuring the K-pop girl group Blackpink, "Sour Candy" is the perfect, sugary, dance hit that we will not likely get to properly enjoy in the clubs for some time. And while stateside Lady Gaga is obviously a massive name, Blackpink is no one to scoff at: the South Korean group has massive recognition globally, and certainly pull their own weight in the track.

Pop fans will no doubt point out similarities between this song and Katy Perry's "Swish Swish." The records likely sample the same 90's house beat. And for good reason: it's a bit of an earworm.

The full Chromatica album releases tonight at midnight. It is set to include a collaboration with Elton John, the aforementioned two singles, and three songs titled "Chromatica." The rollout has boasted merch that includes jockstraps and thongs among other fun paraphernalia. Originally, Gaga was set to tour the project and do a surprise appearance at Coachella. Those events were canceled in light of the pandemic.

In addition to working on the album release, Gaga has helped to raise hundreds of millions in pandemic relief.
