Cuban-American journalist and correspondent Gio Benitez has joined the weekend edition of Good Morning America as a co-anchor. He will now host the show alongside Janai Norman and Whit Johnson.
Born in Miami, Florida, Benitez has been working as a correspondent for ABC News since 2013. Over the course of his career, Benitez has contributed with reporting for shows like Nightline, World News Tonight, 20/20, and Good Morning America. Now, he’s officially landed an anchor position on the coveted morning news TV show, which means even more gay representation on a platform that has already featured Robin Roberts for many years.
