Sad girl twerking is the new walking backwards.
Sminty Drop was eliminated in the recent fourth episode of RuPaul's Drag Race UK season four following her poor performance in the "Catty Man" improv challenge. During the maxi challenge, Drop played the character of a catfisher named Catty Fisher who went on to twerk very badly in the scene.
After deliberations, RuPaul chose Danny Beard as the winner of the challenge, and Pixie Polite was a little pressed about that. In turn, Mama Ru had Drop, Baby, and Le Fil in the bottom three placements. Drop and Baby were ultimately chosen as the bottom two who had to lip sync for their lives to Mel and Kim's "Respectable." Baby won the lip sync, which meant that Drop had to sashay away.
During her exit, Drop recreated her bad twerking from the challenge - but this time added a crying face to it as well. Not a single word was uttered. On a meta level, this felt like the ultimate visual representation of a queen trying to entertain the judges and the viewers after her elimination despite this being the saddest moment of her entire journey on Drag Race.
Many fans are already calling this the best and most hilarious Drag Race exit since Vanessa Vanjie Mateo walked backwards on season 10. The fans are also calling this the best exit in the herstory of the Drag Race UK series.
During an interview with Gay Times, Drop admitted that her exit wasn't exactly planned. She explained:
"I was just like, 'Thank you so much for having me,' and then I got to the back of the stage with nothing prepared. I wasn't expecting to go this early, so I hadn't thought of anything! I literally turned around, saw Ru and my knees started bending and my bum just started relatively moving - more or less! Tears were falling off my face so I was just like... It all happened so quickly, it was another blackout moment. I walked off like, 'What was that all about?!'"
When it comes to comparisons to Miss Vanjie's iconic exit, Drop feels shook, but also flattered. "I was literally up until half five this morning, just reading through tweets," the queen revealed. "I've had two hours sleep because all I was doing was reading tweets of everyone like, 'This is the best exit since Vanjie!' I was like, 'Guys, calm down,' but also... It was pretty hilarious."
Sad girls deserve to twerk, too!
