A new image from the upcoming 4th season of Titansappears to show Tim Drake with his boyfriend, Bernard.
Tim Drake, a.k.a Robin, played by Jay Lycurgo, is one of the new big names joining Titans Season 4, and now, it seems like his comics boyfriend might be joining him. Drake was introduced into Titans at the end of season 3 but has yet to officially suit up as Robin.
At New York Comic Con, fans got a glimpse of the new season, including a scene where it's mentioned that Tim is connecting with a new person named Bernard at S.T.A.R. Labs.
In 2021, Robin came out in an issue of Batman: Urban Legends. In the issue, he was hanging out with his friend Bernard, when Bernard was kidnapped by the villainous Chaos Monster.
When Robin is rescuing Bernard, he (who is unaware that Robin is Tim) confesses that Tim is the person who helped him realize he's gay, and he wants to go on a date with him. Later, Tim (out of costume) goes to Bernard's house to talk to him.
"I'm really glad you got home okay. I was relieved," he tells Bernard. "And I've been doing a lot of thinking about that night, and I - I don't know what it meant to me, not yet. But I'd like to figure it out."
"I was hoping you would," Bernard replies. "Tim Drake, do you want to go on a date with me?"
"Yeah, Yeah I think I want that," Robin says.
HBO Max is keeping tight-lipped about character details for the character Bernard, played by James Scully, who is joining the fourth season. It's only been revealed that he is a high-level S.T.A.R. Labs scientist who deals with "big personalities." While it is not confirmed that he is the Bernard who is Robin's boyfriend in the comics, he does share a name.
Showrunner Greg Walker also teased the relationship between the two young men in the upcoming season. "Bernard will work side-by-side with the Titans as they battle the dark forces of Metropolis," he said. "[Eventually] growing closer to Tim and putting himself in danger along the way."
Titans Season 4 debuts on HBO Max on November 3. Watch the trailer below.
