10s across the board!
After inexplicably landing in the middle of the pack for several weeks on season 31 of Dancing With the Stars, Shangela was finally able to blow away the judging panel with her performance to Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" for Halloween Night.
The RuPaul's Drag Race superstar and her DWTS partner Gleb Savchenko received a score of 10 from all four judges, earning themselves the only perfect score of the entire night.
Shangie celebrated this incredible achievement with an Instagram post that read:
"Y'ALL!!!! Some say cloud 9, but I was living on CLOUD 99 after last night's performance. For as long as I live... AS. LONG. AS. I. LIVE. I'll never forget the sound of those cheers, the feeling that so many people are as deeply invested into this moment as I am. I kept saying in my head, 'Shangie, you can do it. You know these steps, don't be nervous. Just give 'em a show.' And then the music started and the doll's body took over, baby. WOW. 8 weeks in, and to finally get a perfect score all 10s from the judges?!? I FELL OUT... LITERALLY!!! Right on camera."
She continued:
"Thank y'all for continuing to show up for me with your votes. Thank u my partner @glebsavchenkoofficial for ur brilliant artistry and all the heart you share. A big YES MAAM to the glam squad @lushiousmassacr @johnnydoesitbestt and all the DWTS teams for helping bring this creepy fun scene to life! Only 3 weeks left until somebody wins that Mirrorball [Trophy]! Foot on the gas. I'm gonna keep giving my best. Let's do this!!!"
You can watch Shangela's full Halloween Night performance on DWTS in the post below.
After struggling to receive a score of 10 all season long and even being at risk of going home at one point in the season, Shangela seems to finally be bouncing back in the eyes of the judges. As a professional dancer with lots of experience in reality TV, Shangie was practically born to slay DWTS and has been delivering great performances week after week.
Shangela is the first-ever drag performer to get cast on the American version of Dancing With the Stars, which is an exciting landmark for drag artists and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole. Though she's been clearly overlooked throughout the competition, her moment in the spotlight may have finally arrived.
We will keep rooting for Shangie to slay the competition, get to the very end, and perhaps even snatch that Mirrorball Trophy at the finale!
Dancing With the Stars season 31 airs Mondays on Disney+.
