Shangela is a finalist on Dancing With the Stars season 31, halleloo!
On Monday, November 14, Shangela delivered an absolutely dazzling paso doble performance of Lady Gaga's "The Edge of Glory" for the DWTS semifinals. Even though the RuPaul's Drag Race star got pretty high scores, it was hard for her to compete against other contestants who got 10s across the board from the judging panel. As a result, Shangie landed in the bottom three of the week.
So when it came time for the DWTS public to cast their votes via text message to save one of the contestants in the bottom, none other than Lady Gaga shared two Instagram Stories campaigning for Shangela to make it to the finale.
She wrote:
"My friend Shangela just did an amazing dance to 'The Edge of Glory' on the Dancing With the Stars semifinals! Send her your love and vote now by texting SHANGELA to 21535 (10 times!)"
Mother Monster's second Instagram Story also included the voting information for DWTS as well as a fierce screenshot of Shangela performing during the episode.
On Instagram, Shangela shared the video of her incredible performance and thanked her fans for helping her get to the grand finale. And given that DWTS host Tyra Banks posed during the episode with a halleloo-branded fan, the Drag Race alum also took the opportunity to promote some merch sales - she's a pro, after all!
Shangie wrote in the Instagram post:
"We made the FINALE!!!! Our first dance of the night was the paso doble ... honestly, I got my Whole Life! I mean, it was intense to learn but performing it was SO FUN!! And to 'The Edge of Glory' by one of my biggest inspirations Lady Gaga... this was another night for the books, baby! I literally am in tears over how far I feel I've grown through this journey. And what it means to be here, not just for me, but for so many watching. Thank y'all for believing in me, thank you judges, thank you my dance pro Gleb Savchenko, thank you Alan Bersten and Brandon Armstrong for kickin' the number off right... ok, Enjoy! This was another fantastic night for our beloved Shangela, who is now adding Dancing With the Stars finalist to her resume of accomplishments. With the third season of We're Here premiering November 25 on HBO, this couldn't have been a better moment for Shangie to make drag history once more.
