The Pussycat Dolls Ate Their X Factor Reunion Performance
When Nicole Scherzinger announced that she was reuniting with the Pussycat Dolls to create bops for a new generation, gays around the world streamed "Don't Cha" in celebration (although to be fair, about 30% of them were already listening to it). And then last week, X Factor judge Louis Walsh revealed on chat show Lorraine that the Dolls would kick off their reunion with a performance on the competition show --which Scherzinger is a judge on -- leaving us to loosen our buttons in anticipation.
At this weekend's X Factor: Celebrity finale, Scherzinger was joined by bandmates (aka back up dancers) Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, and Kimberly Wyatt for a medley of their biggest hits. The Dolls, clad in skintight black catsuits, writhed to the tunes some of us were blasting out of the speakers of our Ford Focus in high school: "Buttons," "When I Grow Up," and of course, "Don't Cha."
Scherzinger commanded the stage, looking incredible in her sheer look -- her body looks even better now than it did at the height of Pussycat Dolls' popularity. While she wasn't serving the kind of vocals she's become known for since the group disbanded -- you have not truly lived until you've seen her perform "Memory" from CATS -- she did appear to be the only Doll with her mic actually on.
The Dolls closed their performance with a new song, "React," and delivered a full Flashdance fantasy, soaking themselves with, probably, the tears of all the girls kicked off of Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll. Or maybe just water.
