Hosted by actress Vanessa Hudgens and The Bachelorette lead Tayshia Adams, the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards took place over the weekend and awarded several LGBTQ+ projects and celebrities with trophies.
The MTV Movie & TV Awards featured high-profile presents such as Awkwafina, Billy Eichner, Chris Evans, Sydney Sweeney, Megan Stalter, Jay Ellis, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Tamra Judge, and Nick Viall. There were three lifetime awards as well: the "MTV Generation Award" was given out to Jennifer Lopez, the "Comedic Genius Award" was awarded to Jack Black, and the "MTV Reality Royalty Lifetime Achievement" was given to Bethenny Frankel.
Among the nominees were shows like RuPaul's Drag Race, Queer Eye, and Queen of the Universe, as well as LGBTQ+ individuals such as Ariana DeBose, Kaycee Clark, and RuPaul. Some of those nominees lost in their categories, but several LGBTQ+ projects and people did manage to snatch a trophy at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

HBO's very LGBTQ-inclusive Euphoria came out on top among Squid Game, Ted Lasso, Loki, Inventing Anna, and Yellowstone in the "Best Show" category.
Sophia Di Martino played Sylvie on the Disney+ series Loki and was a pivotal character to revealing that Lokis are bisexual. In the "Breakthrough Performance" category, Di Martino bested performances from Alana Haim on Licorice Pizza, Ariana DeBose in West Side Story, Hannah Einbinder on Hacks, and Jung Ho-yeon on Squid Game.
The award for "Best Team" was given out to Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, and Owen Wilson for their performances on Loki, which was yet another victory for LGBTQ+ characters on television. The other shows nominated in this category were Spider-Man: No Way Home, Only Murders in the Building, The Adam Project, and The Lost City.
Viewers know that Euphoria isn't afraid of being "horny on main" - which is probably what led it to win the "Here for the Hookup" category at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The series outshined nominees like Sex/Life, Pam & Tommy, Never Have I Ever, and Sex Lives of College Girls.
RuPaul's Drag Racedominated the unscripted section of the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards. For one, the drag series won the biggest category of the night for unscripted competitive shows: "Best Competition Series." Drag Race came out on top in a category that also included American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies, and The Masked Singer.
The fight between Bosco vs. Lady Camden for the main role in "Moulin Ru: The Rusical" during season 14 of RuPaul's Drag Race ended up winning the "Best Fight" category at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. They were up against scenes from shows like The Real Housewives of Potomac, Selling Sunset, Summer House, and The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Chrishell Stause, who recently started to date non-binary Aussie singer G Flip, won the coveted award for "Best Reality Star." The Selling Sunset star was up against CT Tamburello, Lindsay Hubbard, Teresa Giudice, and Willow Pill.
